GETTING TO THE ISLAND
The Nantucket Triathlon is very pleased to announce the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority continues as the Official Travel Sponsor of the Nantucket Triathlon! The Steamship Authority has been a terrific partner of this race and our supporters. With this partnership we are proud to offer the following discounts for our racers and their families.
20% Discounted PASSENGER-ONLY Fares
High-Speed Ferry Service – Advance reservations are required on the high-speed ferry. This is very important. Registered racers may book their high-speed ferry reservations by calling the Group Sales Office Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Telephone: 508-548-5011ext. 244 or 344. The Group Sales Office will have the race registration list to confirm you are eligible to the discount.
Traditional Ferry Service - Advance reservations are not accepted nor typically needed. On the day of sailing, racers must show their Nantucket Triathlon registration confirmation at the ticket window to receive the 20% discounted fare. If racers are planning to take their car to Nantucket advance auto reservations are required. Please note that there is not a discounted offer on the auto fare.
Bike Transport to and from Nantucket
Racers must travel with their bikes. The availability of bike transport to Nantucket is limited on the high-speed ferry due to limited cargo and luggage space. If you cannot get a reservation on the high-speed ferry, you and your bike will need to go on the traditional ferry.
Bikes being transported to Nantucket will be placed in the cargo spaces of the ferries by Steamship Authority staff in accordance with Steamship policy. Racers will not be able to bring their bikes into the interior passenger spaces. Every effort will be made to protect your bike however the Steamship Authority cannot accept responsibility for any damages that may occur to your bike in transport. Your bike may shift during the ferry ride over, therefore, it is STRONGLY suggested that you bring a towel or blanket and/or other padding with you when you travel to provide some protection for your bike if you have concerns about your bike being damaged, scratched, dinged, etc., during transport. Staff and volunteers will be on hand in Nantucket on race day to help unload the bikes and direct the athletes to the race venue which is less than a mile away from the Steamship dock.
Once again, if you plan to take the High-Speed Ferry service you must book early! July is the peak season for the Steamship Authority, so it is highly recommended that you make your high-speed ferry reservations right away.
